BHK Welke resultaten zijn mogelijk?

ARE YOU BETWEEN THE AGES OF 30 AND 64?

1.    No HPV is found.

  • No HPV was found
  • Most women get this result
  • No additional examination is needed. Five years later, it is best to have a new smear taken. If you have any symptoms in the meantime, do not hesitate to visit your GP or gynaecologist.

2.    HPV is found but no abnormal cells were found in the lab.

  • Your smear contains HPV but no abnormal cells
  • A new smear test in 12 months is important, and you will receive another invitation for this from the Centre for Cancer Screening.
  • Although an HPV infection usually clears up on its own, it is important to monitor it.

3.    HPV is found as well as abnormal cells.

  • Your smear contains HPV but no abnormal cells
  • Additional examination is needed. Your family doctor or gynaecologist will help you schedule that additional examination (a colposcopy).
  • The chance that you actually have cervical cancer is still slim. Often it is a precursor that can be treated quite easily. In that case, cervical cancer will be prevented.

4. The sample could not be analysed.

  • Your smear could not be evaluated.
  • Have another smear within three months.
